Cyberknife Radiosurgery

The CyberKnife System is a non-invasive treatment for cancerous and non-cancerous tumors and other conditions where radiation therapy is indicated. It is used to treat conditions throughout the body, including the brain, spine, head and neck, and can be an alternative to surgery or for patients who have inoperable or surgically complex tumors. CyberKnife treatments are typically performed in 1 to 5 sessions. The CyberKnife System has more than two decades of clinical proof and has helped thousands of cancer patients.

This advanced, non-invasive therapy may be ideal for patients with cancerous or noncancerous conditions that are considered inoperable or untreatable with traditional radiation methods. It can also serve as an alternative for those seeking to avoid conventional surgery or as an additional option for patients who have already reached the maximum allowable dose of standard radiation therapy.

One of the key advantages of CyberKnife treatment is its efficiency. Unlike traditional radiation therapies that can span six to nine weeks, CyberKnife typically requires just five or fewer sessions, each lasting about 20 to 30 minutes. This shorter treatment schedule allows patients to return to their normal lives more quickly—without compromising precision or effectiveness.

 

What to Expect During CyberKnife Treatment


Before beginning treatment, Dr. Massoudi carefully maps out every detail of your condition using advanced imaging tools such as CT, MRI, or PET scans. These scans help identify the precise size, shape, and location of the tumor. In some cases, small markers may be placed in or near the tumor to help track its position throughout treatment. To ensure accuracy and comfort, a custom-fitted soft face mask or body mold may also be created to help you remain still during each session.


From start to finish, our team is dedicated to your comfort, safety, and peace of mind. During treatment, the CyberKnife® system uses a highly precise robotic arm that gently moves around your body to deliver targeted radiation from multiple angles. The system continuously takes X-ray images to confirm accuracy in real time.


Because CyberKnife treatment is completely noninvasive, there’s no need for anesthesia or surgical incisions, and the sessions are entirely pain-free. Most patients experience few, if any, side effects and can return to normal activities immediately after treatment—many even continue their usual routines or go to work throughout the course of therapy.
